Shegaon Temple Cloakroom & Bag Deposit: What to Carry Before Darshan

22 October 2026 3 min read By Rudransh Mali, Shri Gajanan Maharaj Sansthan Bhakta Niwas

Quick Answer: The cloakroom is inside the Mandir premises, right near the Darshan Bari where the queue begins. Lockers take a very nominal donation, the footwear stand is free, and every deposit gets you a token. Hand over your mobile, camera and heavy bags before you step into the darshan queue — and keep your phone switched off from the main entrance, as the Sansthan asks.

Most devotees reach the Shegaon gate with the same worry — “where do I leave my bag and phone?” Here is the simple answer: where to deposit, what it costs, and what you may carry in. We have added a small packing plan too, built on our Shegaon pilgrimage checklist, so your mind stays on Maharaj and not on your luggage.

Where is the Shegaon Temple Cloakroom?

You will find the lockers inside the Mandir premises, near the Darshan Bari where the queue starts — so you can leave your things at the last moment and walk straight into the line.

  • Lockers: Bags and electronics go to the Sansthan lockers near the Darshan Bari entry.
  • Footwear stand: Your chappals have their own separate stand close by.
  • Working hours: Both counters keep darshan hours — from mandir opening until Shej Aarti at night. Plan your visit with the Shegaon darshan timing guide and aarti timings at Shegaon.

Deposit at the counter just before the queue — not earlier in the day.

What can you deposit, and what does it cost?

Luggage bags, mobiles, cameras and large electronics all go into the lockers. The Sansthan keeps the donation very nominal, so there is no need to worry about the cost.

  • Locker donation: Ask the counter for the current amount.
  • Footwear stand: Free of cost.
  • Token: Both counters give you a token or parchi. Show it after darshan and collect your things.
  • Leather: No strict official ban on a belt or small purse is recorded. Large leather bags go to the locker.
  • Staying at Bhakta Niwas? Room-side storage is explained in our Bhakt Niwas locker and luggage storage guide. This cloakroom is separate — it is at the Mandir premises.

Keep the token in your pocket — never inside the bag you deposit.

What can you carry into the darshan queue?

Keep it light. Mobiles, cameras and heavy bags are not allowed in the darshan queue or the main mandir, and photography or videography of any kind is prohibited.

  • Allowed: Cash for prasad and donation, plus your ID, in a pocket or a small pouch.
  • Not allowed: Mobiles, cameras, big bags and any heavy or unnecessary belongings. These go to the locker every time.
  • Mobile rule: The Sansthan has tightened phone use in the Mandir premises. Keep your phone switched off from the main entrance — a phone found in use can be taken to the Sansthan office. Depositing it first saves you that delay.
  • Bag size: The Sansthan has published no size limit. If a bag is heavy or you do not need it, deposit it.
  • Busy days: On crowded and utsav days, the Sansthan advises against carrying costly items. See Bhakt Niwas booking during Prakat Din.

A small pouch with cash and ID is enough — and keep strict silence inside.

How should you pack before darshan?

Think of it as two bags — one for the locker, one for your pocket.

  • Pocket pouch: Cash for prasad and donation, plus photo ID. Other day items are listed in the Shegaon local travel checklist.
  • Locker bag: Phone, camera and large electronics. Planning a longer stay? Use the Bhakt Niwas packing checklist.
  • Room stay: Private rooms need a minimum of 3 family members, and every devotee needs a valid government photo ID. See the rooms page.
  • Booking: Message our official WhatsApp number +919031167563 for availability — official channels only, no agents, no third-party confirmations.

Confirm your room first, then pack for the day.
